Amazing Richard Sidey Beautiful Nature Video

This is a beautiful video covering different parts of the world where the water is very cold
and where  there are many ice fields and ice bergs , penguins, walruses, gulls and other birds,
liners  moving slowly thru the ice fields, etc.

It’s about  5 minutes long but well worth your time.

Enjoy.

UCO Valley Mendoza Argentina

Going down the UCO Valley

I was very excited when my friend and excellent photographer Gustavo Puigdengolas asked me to go out with him to do some shooting in the UCO Valley, I couldn't wait!!!

We left early morning to catch the sunrise, it was amazing, as you can see looking at the following images, the resolution is not the best, all these images can also be viewed on my website under Mendoza Argentina Tab

It was amazing to be with another photographer sharing the same passion for photography.  When we stop to capture the sunrise the weather was perfect and cold, felt like -2 to -5C, the valley is about 7C colder than the city of Mendoza,  not bad for an early start, the temperature went up to + 13C mid morning. I was very fortunate to have this opportunity and be with someone that knew everything about the region, Gustavo knew where and went to stop, no lost of time scooting the place.

I did 3 panoramas, average of 40 images each, the top images represent the road going down the valley, it's an amazing view, such a beautiful country.

Panorama done with 40 images
We stopped all the way down the valley.

On the road going down we saw a gaucho, Gustavo stopped the car jumped out and asked him if it was ok for us to take some photos of him, he agreed!!!

The other 2 panoramas were done in the valley at Tupungato Winelands, it's an amazing resort with a golf, hotel, restaurant, and it's surrounded by the Andes.

In our way to Winelands

It was an amazing day, thanks to my friend Gustavo,

Cumulus Congestus Cloud Over Okotoks

Cumulus Congestus very impressive, Canon 5D Markii, Canon 24-105 at 35mm, f13, 1/200sec, ISO 200

I remember that day, driving back from the grocery store, couldn’t wait to get my equipment to shoot this amazing cloud, a rare occurrence in Okotoks. This kind of cloud appears when the atmospheric conditions are ‘unstable’. This means that the way the air temperature changes with altitude tends to encourage the rising column of warm, moist air at the centre of the cloud to keep lifting higher and higher.  This kind of cloud produced heavy rain, I had to act fast, time was the essence and I had get the shot before the wind and rain started.

Lucky for me it was close by my place, took me about 10 minutes to get set up, I was able to shoot for only few minutes before the wind kick in, too strong to continue shooting even with my sturdy tripod, when out shooting weather condition, never put yourself or your equipment at risk, some condition like that one, shooting in the middle of open field became too dangerous for me to pursuit.
I was very happy that I had the opportunity to shoot that majestic cloud, never had that opportunity to shoot another one since!
