Lunch in Mendoza Argentina

Mendoza Lunch at the Park Hyatt, Canon Rebel Xsi, Canon 24-105 at 55mm, f4, 1/13sec. ISO400
Argentina has great food, always fresh, fresh fruits and vegetables all year long, great wine, and a lot of meat lovers, beef is king, and BBQ called Asado, a way of cooking that all Argentines used, mostly to entertain guests.
A variety of meat cuts and sausages are cooked slowly all day, it’s not only a cooking process but also a networking event. These post photos were shot at Mendoza Park Hyatt, during the monthly foreigner club lunch event, event sponsored by a winery, yes wine was pouring no empty glass here! The fee for that feast was more than reasonable, a great way to meet new foreigners and make new friends.

Provoleta, Provolone cheese cut in very thick slices, grill on the parilla, during an Asado, so delicious, and very fattening, goes down well with a glass of Malbec, Canon Rebel Xsi, Canon 24-105 at 95mm, f4, 1/1250 sec. ISO 400

Family Matter Lunch at Tribal in Okotoks

One thing we love to do when visiting or being visited by family is to go out for coffee, lunch or dinner, last week when our son Sebastien and his wife Sandra came from Vancouver for a short visit, we went for lunch to one of my favorite place in Okotoks, Tribal Connection Market

This is their advertising info, an amazing place to stop by!!!

"At Tribal Connection Market, we carry a wide selection of silver and fashion jewellery, clothing, crystals, books, cards, and musical instruments, as well as far it trade coffee, animal toques, native moccasins and boots, carved wooden masks, wind chimes and other artifacts from around the world! We support countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, Costa Rica, India, Brazil, Nepal, and proudly support Canadian artists as well. We are the perfect destination for finding gifts for your "hard to buy for" friends and family!

In our unique cafe, enjoy a coffee, tea, latte, smoothie, or light lunch, and finish with one of our decadent sweets in a relaxing, yet, energizing atmosphere. You can also book an appointment Friday or Saturday with one of our intuitive Readers. All tips we receive from our cafe go to local charities as well as supporting underprivileged children from other countries.
Jodi, Wendy and the staff at Tribal Connection Market would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU! To our customers who have supported us and look forward to serving you in the future!"

Great Shopping, Great Food, Great Coffee, Great Atmosphere!

I was very excited to bring the kids their, I knew that they will love it, so relaxing and friendly.

A great addition to Olde Town Okotoks.

We got garlic grilled cheese and soup, sooooooo good, great shopping, great atmosphere, great coffee and great food!

Great Tortellini Soup

My favorite, Garlic Grilled Cheese!

All the shots were done using my little Panasonic Lumix, except for the shot of me and Sebastien, that was done by Sandra, using a small Canon point and shoot. When I go out I let that little camera take over, it's a great tool to document life events, and the resolution is not bad, I am waiting for Canon to launch their new G1 Markii in April, a point and shoot, with a big sensor and great resolution for amazing image quality, I'll keep you posted on this new toy as soon as I can put my hand on one, so much expectation!

Great Celebration Documented Using Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ200

Lunch at Heartland Okotoks Alberta

Great Celebration,
I had one of the best day, lunch was excellent, cheese and bacon flatbread, sharing plate of goat cheese, flatbread, tomatoes, olives, a great glass of Malbec, chocolate shortbread cookie and cappuccino, in great company,  after what went to the consignment store bought few things, came back home to get ready for dinner.

Dinner was a real feast our friend Tom cooked a turkey a recipe from Gordon Ramsey "The Christmas Turkey"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5PFXhdfVT8,
it was amazing, end the day with beautiful evening playing card, nothing better than to enjoy great food with great friends.

A real feast, the best turkey ever:)
To document that day of celebration I used my little Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ200, it's a great camera to document life events, not the image quality of my Canon, but for a day in town drinking wine, it's a lot better than using a smart phone, more resolution, better focus, a zoom that can go up to 600mm, not a bad piece of equipment.

On my wish list to get better resolution and great image quality in a small package is the new Canon G1X Markii, this new toy should be available by April,  not a cheap camera, around $849.00 Canadian.
The specifications for this new Canon addition are amazing, it's a dream camera,  the new 24-120mm f2-3.9 lens is very fast, plus great macro ability, a large sensor  1.5-inch for noise reduction, the latest Digic 6 image processor to improved low-light photos, a tilting touch-screen version that can flip up 180 degrees for selfies. A flash that also tilts for bouncing a hot shoe for Canon flashguns , two rings on the lens barrel, one for focus and the other for a user-selectable function. The auto focus has 31-area contrast AF this little camera has  wireless connectivity, shutter speed up to 60sec and weight only 19.5 ounces, it's a lot of specifications for a pocket camera, and if it reach the expectations that will be the perfect pocket companion. The price at Adorama is $799.00 US

I sent an email to Canon to ask if the G1X Markii will be compatible with their new  radio triggering  speedlite system,  the 600EX-RT Flashgun and ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter, I used this system with my Canon 5D Markiii and it's amazing, up to 30 meters transmission, a lot of flexibility, and no worries, the radio transmission is very effective even the other side of a wall.  I really hope it will be compatible!
