Septima Mendoza Winery

Amazing Architecture, I had to take 6 photos that were stitched in Photoshop.

Septima, the seventh winery from the Codorniu Group of Spain, this group is family owned, 18 generations, the Raventós family tried to established themselves in Argentina in 1940 with no success.
The Group bought the land in 1999 and Septima was finished in 2002,  this 750-acre estate is in the Lujan de Cuyo sub-region of Mendoza, a region that produces 75% of Argentina’s wine.

Amazing operation

Septima Mendoza is producing over 3 millions of bottles per year, quite impressive operation.

The Name Septima, means seven, it was the group seventh winery, on road 7 at 7km.

Septima’s building is an amazing piece of architecture, it was designed by the Mendoza architects Eliana Bórmida and Mario Yanzón like many others in the region.

Septima land is planted with Malbec, Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer for their late harvest and Pinot Noir for one of their best sparkling wine Maria Rosat.

We had a great tour, Noella our guide who is studying to become a sommelier had an answer for all our questions, I learned the meaning of the different terms on the label of Argentine wines, "Roble" means adding oak chips during the process, "Reserva" means a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels, and Gran Reserva a minimum of 18 month in oak barrels, Septima do not use chips only barrels.

All image were done using Canon 5D Markiii, Canon 24-105, no flash, no tripod, at low shutter speed and very high ISO, I used Topaz Denoise to take out some of the noise.

Transforming grapes into wine, nothing better!

I will like to get one!

Septima used French and American Oak barrels, this one was manufactured in Chile by a French co. and it's a American Oak barrel???

A pallet of Maria Rosat, too bad it doesn't have my address on it.

The best part tasting! We started with Maria Rosat, my friend Arnold and Noella our guide were chatting about the Raventós family and their 18 generations history of wine making!

Noella was the perfect guide, extremely knowledgeable, she is studying to become a sommelier.

The vines of Septima.
